Happy Halloween!

I could not think of what the boys should be for Halloween this year. So... the morning of our ward Halloween party, we headed over to Savers in the pouring rain! Finally we found two costumes. A fireman and a duck. Funny thing was, they both said they were size 2T. The fireman costume fit Hike perfectly (who now wears 3T clothes), but the duck was pretty snug length wise for Baby, who is just now starting to wear 12 months clothes. Oh well. :) They were cute!

Our ward Halloween party is the same every year, but oh so fun! We have a huge buffet of all different kinds of soups, with salad and rolls and lots of desserts. Yum! It's always hard to choose which to eat, so usually we go back to try as many as we can before they are gone. ;) Then after we eat, all the children parade between the tables to show off their costumes and end by walking across the stage. People sign up to decorate rooms, and the kids go trick-or-treating to all the rooms. Some are simple, and some are super cute! One that some of the younger boys did was they had fishing poles with clothes pins that you threw over behind the chalk board. Then they would clip on the packaged rice crispy treats and pull on the string so you knew when you "caught a fish". It was cute. Until Hike finally ate his rice crispy treat he called it a "fish" since he fished for it. It was funny. :) He was also a little too scared to go into the really dark rooms, and would not go in the box maze that the young women put together. All in all it was a lot of fun though. Neil didn't want to dress up, but I wanted to at least do something, so I was a red-head. Neil said I should have put a big mole on my face so I could be a "red head with a mole". That or put tape around my glasses and be a nerdy red head. Maybe next year. ;)

For this last weekend we decided to head to Logan. We did this two Halloweens ago, but didn't tell either of our parents. It was a fun surprise as they opened the door to find Hike in his pumpkin costume sitting in his bumbo. This year we did tell Neil's parents though, and stayed with them Friday night. We had so much fun! It rained Saturday, but only for about an hour (while we were eating dinner). It was perfect timing, because when we were ready to go out, the rain had quit! Hunter loved it as the trick-or-treaters came while we were eating. And he loved going from house to house! Some of the people remembered us, and loved Hike! Sis. Jensen was too funny! She kept giving him all sorts of things, pulling more baskets full of candy out from everywhere. And of course she gave one of everything to Baby too. :) It was funny. Otherwise, Hunter got down saying "trick-or-treat" pretty well. And he would say thank you afterwards. Though he didn't quite realize that after they give you candy that you leave, and some times it took a while to get him to come to the next door. :) And of course the scary decor people had on their porches scared him to death, but Baby loved ALL of it! :) I can't wait for Baby to be a little bit bigger for next year! They just keep getting more fun every day! :)

After we got back to the house he was more than excited to help Grandma pass out candy. One of the doors he stood there and kept saying "trick-or-treat" to them. Another time he was ready with a handful of candy to put in their bags. He loved it! :) It was really cute watching him!

Hike borrowed Grandma's hat to help keep him warm while we were out. We were surprised that he loved having it on the whole time! :) yippy!

We then headed up to my Dad's house, and did surprise them. I was trying to hide so they would only see Hike as they opened the door, but Neil just held Baby up in front of his face. It was funny. We had a great time visiting with them! Since Judy had just gotten her book published, "Duck, Duck, Moose" and Baby was in a duck costume, she took a pic of him reading her book so he could be the duck in the story. Too cute! The book is the BEST and with such cute illustrations! :) Be sure to check it out!
