But of course, as soon as we are all better... Hike starts taking his diaper off after every time he goes in it. Kind of yucky. So we decided to start potty training him, and that is what we've been doing for the last week or so now. We started last week by talking a lot about it, and bought some little boy books that talk about potty training. They were really cute. I say were because Hike already ripped all the pages out of them. Er. We also bought Elmo's Potty Time dvd and he really likes that. I also got the book Potty Train in Three Days. And I actually REALLY like it! It is actually more like 3 weeks as she percludes to in the book, but in 3 days he did know the drill, and though we don't catch all of his accidents in the day, he does know to run to the bathroom, he's learned the whole process of undressing and sitting on the potty and what to do after he goes and to wash his hands. So, right now we are working on timing and that is a little more difficult. It seems like when he does have his accidents, it's when I'm distracted trying to get some dishes washed, or he runs down stairs for two seconds, etc. If only I could keep my eye on him every second, maybe we'd be a little more successful. And then there are those times when he throws a fit because he doesn't want to have potty time in the middle of his show. Otherwise he does great! He stays dry for naps and through the night! And always does great at making it right in the morning and in the evening/at night. I think my hubby is just magic and I don't know what he does different than me that he can always get him to go. Anyway. It's been quite the exhausting week! and today I had a break down. and cried. not really for any reason but pure exhaustion and not being able to go or do anything all week. We 'threw' his diapers in the trash right at the beginning. (Actually we put them in a bag and threw the bag in the trash, then I saved the bag. I'm not throwing diapers away! They are expensive!) :) But he's been doing good and has been learning a lot, so I'd say that even though he has accidents, he is doing great! And I'm really proud of him! :)
I think what might really help is a sticker chart... so that is my next project. That and go to the post office. finally.
